Francoise Vertue Szacik, 91, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Sunday, June 25, 2023. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Rd, Charleston, SC 29412. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. 

Francoise was born October 6, 1931 in Windsor, Quebec, Canada, daughter of the late George Vertue and the late Claudia Pinard Vertue. Frances supported her military husband who served in the United States Navy for over 20 years. She will be remembered for the way she loved her family and friends. The family all called her Bébé.  She loved sharing her French-Canadian heritage and passionately cared for her grandchildren and church family. She loved being outdoors with nature and finding shells on Folly Beach.
 
She is survived by her children with her late, loving husband, Mitchell Stanley Szacik - Gloria Szacik Brecht (Robert) of College Station, TX, Tina Szacik McCormack (Jay) of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and George Szacik (Mandy) of Johns Island, S.C.. her children with her former spouse, the late Sherwood Vear - Philip Vear (Jane) of Charleton, MA and Nancy Vear Robert (Mike) of Phoenix, AZ; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, loving husband, and former spouse, she is preceded in death by her son, Raymond Vear; sisters, Lucille Muir (Kenneth), Yvette Asselin (George), Jeanette Bolduc (Laurier) and brother Alfred Vertue (Anita).

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Mount Pleasant Manor of Oak Harbor Healthcare for their compassion and professional care. A special thanks to her caregivers, Ms. Rhonda Green, Mrs. Tammy Scheeler (And the Gold Wing Team), and Mrs. Nicole Weathersbee for providing a loving, respectful, calming presence to Frances and her family for over 10 years.
