Francis Allen Mellichamp, 73, of Awendaw, South Carolina, husband of Alice Moore Mellichamp died Sunday, December 14, 2014. The relatives and friends of Francis Mellichamp are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in the First Baptist Church of Awendaw, Highway 17 at 2:00 pm. Francis was born May 28, 1941 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Mary Elizabeth Deer Mellichamp and the late Henry Laurens Mellichamp, Jr. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Awendaw, retired as a Nuclear Inspector Foreman with the Charleston Naval Shipyard, was a member of Etiwan Masonic Lodge #95.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alice Mellichamp of Awendaw, SC; his mother, Mary Mellichamp of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three daughters, Pam Wilson and her husband, Mills, of West Columbia, SC, Penny Fryar of North Charleston, SC and Patty Dennison and her husband, Mike, of Panama City Beach, FL; three brothers, Douglas Mellichamp and his wife Susan, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Larry Mellichamp and his wife, Paula, of McClellanville, SC and Derald Mellichamp and his wife, Kathy, of Austin, TX and nine grandchildren.
