MSgt. Frances Naomi Mckoy-Young, USAF, Ret., daughter of the late Hester McKoy (1998) and Mary McKoy, was born on December 12th, 1951 in Wilmington, NC. And she was later on taken home on October 25th, 2017 by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But during those almost 66 years she had an amazing journey and was blessed to see so many amazing people and places.
She spent most of her adolescent years in Wilmington, NC and graduated from New Hanover High School. With a strong desire to travel and see the world, Momma joined the United States Air Force. She traveled within the United States and all over the world and spent 21 years of her life serving her country. She finally retired, settling in Charleston, SC. She also, progressed her mind by obtaining an Associates Degree from Trident Tech. Momma also worked for Bass Hotel and Resorts, but later finished her career at JC Penney's. During her travels she developed a lot of long lasting relationships. Momma was the type of person that people respected and loved so very much. She loved very deep and hard. She would do anything to help friends, family and even strangers. Momma took people in her home and cared for them as if they were her own. She also showed her love for people through cooking and hospitality. She was known as a giver, a protector, a provider, a close friend, a great mother and grandmother! In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her big sister, Sandra Bryant and little sister Joyce Maria. Surviving to carry on her love, memories and great legacy are: her only child Cornell Young II, married to Dana Young; Two Grandchildren, Celina Grace and Anna Kori; sisters, Gladys, Twin Rosa Maria, Daisy, Tracy and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends: Dorian Ross, Mary Mitchell, Thelma Williams, Laurie Young. My mother is special! She is a fighter but yet soft hearted and very considerate. She taught us all something about ourselves that has helped to shape who we are today. Never forget her laugh, her smile and sweet voice!
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 30, 2017 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 7936 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406 at 11:00 am with Pastor Robinson Officiating.
