Frances DuBose Lindsay, 91, of Edisto Island, South Carolina, wife of Nick Lindsay, Sr., died during Spoleto Tuesday, June 7, 2016, surrounded by: husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 in The Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island, 2164 Hwy 174 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in The Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island Cemetery. I am Nick, She is DuBose eldest daughter of the late Judge Allison P. DuBose and Belle Easley DuBose.
I asked, "What's the opposite of Salt?"

" Then what's the opposite of a squirrel?"
"The opposite of a squirrel? A burnt-up brick, a crumbly brick."

1931: Tames her first small western mare;
1936: Saves A.P.'s life by running barefoot through dense Greenville woods to phone the doctor to his side;
1945: Gives up a fast-track PhD to marry me;
1955: We get to Edisto;
January, 2016: Decides she's stayed below here long enough.
We have made our living building 60 to 90-ton trawlers, houses, and by laying brick on Edisto Island.
She is survived by her husband, Nick Lindsay of Edisto Island, SC; three sons, Nick Lindsay, Jr. of Edisto Island, SC, Edward Lindsay of South Orange, NJ, and David Lindsay of Brooklyn, NY; seven daughters, Karen Lindsay of Camden, SC, Maria Collier of Hendersonville, NC, Nancy Henry of Atlanta, GA, Emily Lindsay of Melbourne, Australia, Louisa Sprouse of Eugene, OR, and Charlotte Greff of Harskirchen, France; 20 grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Predeceased by daughter, Elizabeth Lindsay.
