Entered into eternal rest on the evening of August 30, 2011, Frances Marie Smith Fike, widow of Joseph R. Fike. She lived at Carter-May Residence in Charleston. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 11:00 am in Grace Episcopal Church. Interment, Riverview Memorial Park. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Friday between 6:00 and 8:00 pm.

Mrs. Fike was born June 13, 1916, in Augusta, GA, the daughter of Angus Smith and Frances Gunn Smith.  She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a longtime member of The Grace Church Choir. She was also a member of the Charleston Choral Society, and a charter member of the Charleston Opera Company. She was a foster grandparent with the Charleston public school system.

She is survived by one daughter Anna Fike of Brooklyn NY; one son: Joseph R Fike, Jr. of Wadmalaw Island, SC; one brother: Angus Smith, Jr. of Johns Island, SC; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a daughter, Frances Fike Alvarado.
