Frances Marie Carter Dukes, of North Charleston, SC, who loved God and her family, died at her home Tuesday, August 11, at the age of 84. Her funeral service will be held Friday, August 14, 2015 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:00 am. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel.
Frances was born September 3, 1930 in Covington, VA to Roscoe and Mabel Carter. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Roscoe Carter Jr. and Charles Carter, and son LaFon Wilson Dukes. She is survived by Martin Luther Dukes, husband of 67 years, and her children, Martin Luther Dukes Jr. (Lu) of North Charleston, Gail Dukes Felder (Michael) of Rock Spring, GA, and David Bryant Dukes (Cari) of North Charleston; grandchildren: Brandon James Felder (Jennifer), Christopher Martin Dukes (Michelle), Sarah Marie DeBord (Brad), Isabella Marie Dukes, Caitlyn Muriel Rouse (Jordan), Cierra Janay Madeliene Rouse, and great-grandchildren: Isaiah James Felder, Christian Jordan O'Neill, Cameron Brice O'Neill, and one great-grandchild on the way, Juliette Dukes.
Frances a home maker worked in child care for Mothers Day Out at Remount Baptist Church. She served as a volunteer for Newborns in Need and was a member of The Embroidery Guild of Charleston. Frances and Martin were founding members of Remount Baptist Church, North Charleston.
