Frances Moore Byrd, 93, wife of the late Capt. Hugh D. Byrd, USN (Ret) of Raleigh, North Carolina and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, SC died on Monday, September 24, 2012. The relatives and friends of Frances Byrd are invited to attend her Funeral Service at the graveside on Thursday, September 27, 2012 in Beaufort National Cemetery at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. Frances was born on June 2, 1919 in Gastonia, North Carolina, daughter of the late Dr. William G. Moore and May Rice Moore. She was a secondary education teacher in South Carolina for many years. She was a member of the Women's Club of Charleston, former member of the Snee Farm Country Club, a member of the Hobcaw Garden Club and a member of Hibben United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant.

She is survived by her son, Dr. William E. Byrd and his wife, Rachel, of Roanoke Rapids, NC; daughters, Mary B. Brice of Atlanta, GA, Virginia B. Bondesen of Raleigh, NC and Patricia B. Mitchell of Mt. Pleasant, SC and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Hibben United Methodist Church, 690 Coleman Boulevard, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. 29464.
