Frances LeGrand Brownlee, 80, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late James Edward Brownlee, Sr., entered into eternal rest Monday, July 29, 2024. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 5, 2024 in the International Church of God, 1560 Ashley River Road at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Frances was born August 3, 1943 in Lake City, South Carolina, daughter of the late Ernest Graham and Sinclair Cox Graham. She was a long time member of International Church of God. Frances stood strong in her faith and loved the Lord with all her heart! Except for her love for the Lord, nothing came before her family! She was the best Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Aunt. She was also a passionate Atlanta Braves fan but an even bigger Elvis fan!
She is survived by her sons, Joe E. Griffin (Janis), Darryl Ray Griffin (Alesha), Gene Griffin, and Lt. Col. James E. Brownlee, Jr. (Crystal); daughter, Melinda Murray; sisters, Betty Morillo (Donald) and Teresa Leap (Bob); 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Frances was preceded in death by her sisters, Sivel Inabnett and Barbara Locklear.
Her family would like to give special thanks to all her nurses at Gentiva Hospice who always went above and beyond for her.
Memorial donations can be made in Frances' memory to the International Church of God or to Genitive Hospice care.
