Florine was born March 19, 1914 in Six Mile, South Carolina, daughter of the late James Hudgens and Emma Berry Allen Hudgens. She worked as a clerk in the textile industry, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant. Her life was a hallmark of involvement, primarily in her church. She taught Sunday School until she reached her 90's. She was President of WMU at her local church. In her later years she became a volunteer for all crafts at the Senior Center in Greenville, and was awarded "Volunteer of the Year." She loved reading and kept her mind active.
