Florence Byrd Simms Marlow, 96, of North Charleston passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. The relatives and friends of Florence Marlow are invited to attend her Funeral Service at the graveside on Saturday, July 16, 2011 in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 16, 2011 in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m.
Mrs. Marlow was born on October 6, 1914 in Memphis, Tennessee, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Byrd. She retired after 22 years with the Mt. Pleasant Water Works, after which she volunteered with Southern Hospitality. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant and attended Shem Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her three children, Joyce Poulos of North Charleston, SC, Edward Warren Simms of Charleston, SC and Michael Simms of Awendaw, SC; eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Warren Simms, John Potts, Elmore Marlow and two children, Shirley Annette Simms and Jacquelyn V. Dixon.
Flowers will be accepted or the family requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice
