Florence Uhl Durkee

Florence Uhl Durkee, 91, of Bluffton, SC, entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 24, 2021 in Summerville, SC. A memorial service will be held at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, Myrtle Beach, SC at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

Florence (Flossie) was born on February 3, 1929 in Long Island, NY, to the late Arthur Ferdinand Uhl and Florence Meyer Uhl. She and her husband of 50 years, the late Albert Thomas Durkee were longtime residents of Cheshire, CT, where they raised their six children. Florence was a manager of Cheshire Hillside Village for many years and also worked as a real estate agent. She retired to Myrtle Beach, SC where she was a member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church.

Throughout her 91 years she was the epitome of courage, grace and compassion for others and living her life caring deeply for all that knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Steve Durkee (Teri) and Scott Durkee; her daughters, Kathy Gauthier (Larry) and Lori Wilson (Robert); her 10 grandchildren, Michael Durkee, Nicole Gauthier, Kathryn Kay, Stephanie Johnson, Jenifer Durkee and Bryan Durkee, Mark Durkee and Sarah Durkee, Jaclyn Wilson and Lindsay Wilson. She is also survived by her longtime partner "husband "of 18 years, Carl Telecsan of Bluffton, SC. She has 10 great grandchildren with the 11th on the way.

Florence was predeceased by her two sons, Peter Durkee and Mark Durkee, and her daughter-in-law, Betsy Durkee as well as sister, Marion Kaussner and brother, Arthur Uhl Jr.
