Fleetwood Albrecht was born October 19, 1962, in Columbia, South Carolina, the cherished son of the late Rev. Fleetwood James Albrecht and Martha Ellen Jones Albrecht.
Fleetwood grew up on Sullivan’s Island, graduating from Wando High School. Guided by a lifelong curiosity about how things worked and a quiet joy in fixing things by taking them apart and putting them back together, he followed his passion for engineering to Clemson University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and received honors as a top engineering student. He later continued his studies at George Mason University, where he received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Fleetwood devoted more than 30 years of his career as a Senior Project Engineer with Weyerhaeuser Paper Company and International Paper. His professional life was marked by dedication, innovation, and a commitment to excellence that earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Outside of his career, Fleetwood found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved boating and spending time at the beach, enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and participated in fellowship at various churches where he demonstrated his strong faith in God. He also delighted in playing the piano, trumpet, and singing for pleasure, sharing his love of music with those he cared for most dearly.
Fleetwood will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for his warmth, generosity, and devotion to family and friends.
He is survived by his sister, Helen A. Berg (Jim) of Mount Pleasant, SC; his two sons, Alan Charles Albrecht of Greenville, NC, and Aaron Curtis Albrecht of Greenville, NC; his sister-in-law, Carole Parker Albrecht; his former wife, Karen Curtis Albrecht; the following nieces and nephews: Caroline Walker Gray, Elizabeth Lehman Miller, John Michael Gray, Stuart Cannon Gray, and Edward Walker Miller; and brother-in-law, The Honorable Edward W.
