Faye Stephens Tavel

Faye Stephens Tavel, 80, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Edward Marion Tavel died Sunday, February 19, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the graveside in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road at 4:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Faye was born January 8, 1937 in Florence, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Wilford Stephens and Allie Fore Stephens. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her two sons, Dr. Edward Marion Tavel, Jr (Madeline) of Mount Pleasant, SC and Alan Stephens Tavel (Beth) of Awendaw, SC; four grandsons, Edward Marion Tavel, III, Marshall Tavel, Alan Stephens Tavel, Jr and Andrew Tavel; and her sister, Anne Stember of Florida.
Faye had fond memories of growing up in the Park Circle area. She and her husband later moved to Mount Pleasant where they raised their family and lived the remainder of their lives. She enjoyed being outside, walking and gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She regularly attended their school and sports activities and was always their biggest fan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, "Community Meal Fund", 273 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
