F. C. "Pete" Andrews, 94, of North Charleston, SC, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011, in Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.
Mr. Andrews was born on September 6, 1917 in Aiken County, SC, the son of Felton Andrews and Bertha Weathersbee Andrews. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, and he served in the European Theater. He was awarded a number of medals: Bronze Star, Purple Heart, EAMET Campaign medal with three bronze service stars, good conduct medal and a Presidential Citation. As a Staff Sergeant he served in Normandy, Germany and Northern France and was also a member of 4th Division of 22nd Infantry. He retired from the Charleston Air Force Base where he worked as a Manager Engineer in the maintenance division. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Solomon No. 1 of Savannah, a member of the Scottish Rite and was a Shriner.
He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Sue Rogers and her husband Jerry M. Rogers; three granddaughters: Amanda Beth Oliver and her husband Michael, Sharon Becky Owens and her husband Danny and Sandra DeYoung her husband Mark; four great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; He was preceded in death by his brother Colly Edward Andrews.
The memorial service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 2:00 pm. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held Monday, December 19, 2011 at 10:00 am at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
