Evelyn Harris Wilkerson

Evelyn Harris Hicks Wilkerson, 89, of Mount Pleasant, widow of Royal E. Wilkerson and Louis E. Hicks, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2011. 

The relatives and friends of Evelyn Wilkerson are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Central United Methodist Church, Monroe, North Carolina at 2:00 pm. Visitation at the church will begin one hour prior to the Funeral Service.  Burial will immediately follow in Monroe City Cemetery. Arrangements in North Carolina by Gordon Funeral Service. Local arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Mount Pleasant Chapel.  

Mrs. Wilkerson was born on March 21, 1922 in Monroe, North Carolina, daughter of the late B. Frank Harris and Ruth Noles Harris.  She was a homemaker and loved to spend time with her family and friends. 

 She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Dusenbury Herritage and her husband, Jim, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren, Allen D. Herritage and his wife, Kristin; Benjamin D. Herritage and his wife, Cassie, and L. Katherine Herritage; four great grandchildren, Grace E. Herritage, Porter M. Herritage, Jackson D. Herritage and Lyles Evelyn Herritage; one sister, June H. Cochran of Asheboro, NC and one sister-in-law, Katherine Craine of Sun City, AZ.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 801 South Hayne Street, Monroe, NC  28112 or the Timothy A. Dusenbury Scholarship Fund, The Citadel, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29407.
