Evelyn Waldrop Kendall Patterson, 99, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Robert D. Patterson, and the late James Russell Kendall, Sr., passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014. A Celebration of Evelyn's Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Cryptside in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road. The family will receive friends Monday, September 29, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road.
Evelyn was born November 24, 1914 in Timmonsville, South Carolina, daughter of the late William Waldrop and Mary Smith Waldrop. She attended Coker College, and was the Executive Director of the South Carolina Naval Relief. She was a faithful member of Hibben United Methodist Church where she served for many years as the church organist. Evelyn also served as an Interim Organist at the Church of the Transfiguration in Bat Cave, NC. She deeply loved her church, and her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Patterson of Phoenix, AZ; her daughter, Mary Lynn Rowland and her husband, Larry of Mt. Pleasant, SC and their children, Kendall Murray and her husband, John of Charleston, SC and Taylor Rowland of Charleston, SC; her sons, James Russell Kendall, Jr. and his wife, Debra of Atlanta, GA, and their children, Heather Kendall of Atlanta, GA, and James Russell Kendall III and his wife, Erin of Mt. Pleasant, SC and their child, James Russell Kendall IV, and William "Bill" C. Kendall and his children, W. "Charlie" Kendall of Boston, MA, Steven Pool of Charleston, SC, and Alicia Pool Jones and her children, Eli and Marion of Charleston, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband, James Russell Kendall, Sr.
The family would also like to extend their deep gratitude to Rebecca "Vickie" Jones for the companionship, love, and fun which she brought to Evelyn's life. You made the journey easier.
