Evelyn Mae Johnson

September 18, 1941 — June 7, 2021

Evelyn Mae Coates Johnson, 79, of Goose Creek, SC, wife of David Andrew Johnson entered into eternal rest Monday, June 7, 2021. Her Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021 in the St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 200 South Goose Creek Boulevard at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

Evelyn was born September 18, 1941 in Galivants Ferry, SC, daughter of the late Cleveland Cassie Coates and the late Mamie Hooks Coates. She was an active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, landscaping and cooking. She was a Mental Health Board Member of Berkeley County, former contributor to the Goose Creek Town Council and active in Red Hat Lady Society, Scarlet Ladies.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, David Johnson of Goose Creek, SC; son, David Douglas Johnson (Tina) of Hanahan, SC; daughter, Sharon Johnson Waller of North Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Walter John O'Brien of Adams, MA, Andrew Douglas Waller of Ridgeville, SC, Dillon Douglas Johnson of Charleston, SC and Harry Hunter Seel (Jordan) of Sumter, SC; granddaughter, Danielle Michelle Waller of North Charleston, SC; great-granddaughters, Kaylie Danielle Montagna of Summerville, SC and Aubrey Anna Waller of Hanahan, SC; great-grandson, Walter John O'Brien III of Adams, MA; three sisters: Christine Whitener (Les) of West Ashley, SC, Paula Smith (Eddie) of Manchester, CT and Pearl Lucas of South Windsor, CT; two brothers, Dayton Coates of Conway, SC and Vernon Hooks of Aynor, SC; sister-in-law, Betty Gayle Rogers (Marion) of Dublin, CA; brother-in-law, Joseph Monroe Johnson (Maria) of Leesburg, FL.
