Evelyn Shokes Helton

Evelyn Shokes Helton, 85, of Summerville, SC, widow of Paul Graham Helton, died Saturday, September 27, 2014. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 2, 2014 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel.

Evelyn was born July 17, 1929 in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Clarence Mortimer Shokes and the late Sarah Belle Wright Shokes. Evelyn sang with Southern Harmony, enjoyed flying and had her pilots license. She attended Faith Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by a son, Rick Helton of Harts, WV; five daughters, Jeannie Helton Roberts of Lexington, SC, Paula Helton Fowler of Kennesaw, GA, Kathy Helton Carroll of Dorchester, SC, Annette Marie Helton Hampton of Fredericksburg, VA and Rose Anne Helton Santiago of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Rose Boop of Charleston, SC and Joyce West of Charleston, SC; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
