Evelyn Seegars Glover

Mary Evelyn Seegars Glover, 90, of Johns Island, South Carolina, widow of Harold Lee Glover entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 in St. John's Parish Church, 3673 Maybank Highway at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the churchyard. Family and friends are welcome at the home of Ethel and Phil Morrow, 1727 Chaneybriar Lane, Johns Island, on Friday after 6:00pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Evelyn was born September 29, 1927 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of James Edward Seegars and Lula Meree Seegars. She was a faithful member of St. Johns Episcopal Church, where she was chairman of the altar guild for many years. Church members faithfully brought her communion for the last eight years. Evelyn was a Past President of the Garden Club of Charleston. She was a founding member and past president of the Sea Island Republican Women and she was the President of the Christian Family Y. She was also a member of the Ladies Benevolent Society. Evelyn was awarded the Order of the Palmetto by Governor James B. Edwards.

Evelyn is survived by four children: H. Lee Glover, Jr. (Charleigh), Leize G. Willis, Ethel G. Morrow (Phil), and Edward Guerry Glover, all of Johns Island; eight grandchildren: Casey Hurst (Cal), Claire Edwards (Jim), Suzannah Countryman (Andrew), Catherine Morrow, Carlton Morrow, Charlotte M. Walpole (Hunter), Robert E. Bennett III, and two great grandchildren, Chandler and Mary Ellen Hurst; a dearly loved and devoted brother, Dr. James E. Seegars, Jr. (Shirley) of Spartanburg; sister-in-law, Ann G. Schaffer of Johns Island and brother-in-law C. Ray Lambert of Charleston.

Evelyn is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Harold and her sisters: Charlotte E. Seegars, Eleanor S. Allen, and Barbara S. Crissey.
