Eve Kinloch Evans

January 19, 1930 — February 11, 2019

Eve Kinloch Evans, 89, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on February 11, 2019.

Born and raised in Charleston, SC, Eve was the daughter of the late Bohun Baker Kinloch and the late Betty Austin Kinloch. She attended Charleston Day School, St Catherine's School, Holton-Arms School, and Connecticut College for Women. She went to work for an advertising company in New York, NY. Her cousin Bill King introduced her to her first husband John C. Snedeker. They lived in Bellport, NY until 1966 when they moved to Florida. Eve and John separated and Eve returned home to Charleston, SC where she met and married James Nowlin Evans in 1977.

Eve was devoted to her family, and took great joy in her children and grandchildren. Eve enjoyed dining and laughing with Jimmy, and together they travelled to many places around the world. They spent many summers with her dear cousin Bet Eddy Lidgerwood on Martha's Vineyard. At home, she enjoyed reading, needle pointing, community, church and charity work. She completed the needlepoint altar cushions at the Church of the Holy Communion, St. Michael's Church, and Bishop Gadsden's Chapel. She also helped to complete needlepoint altar cushions at Grace Church Cathedral. She was a very generous supporter of many organizations both locally and nationally.

Eve is survived by her husband of 41 years, James Nowlin Evans; sons: J. Christian Snedeker (Laurie), Dwight Austin Snedeker, and Charles Valentine Snedeker (Amanda); grandsons: Marshall Austin Snedeker, Andrew Kinloch Snedeker, and Samuel James Snedeker and granddaughter, Eve Odette Snedeker. She is also survived by a brother, Bohun Baker Kinloch, Jr. and a sister, Julia Kinloch Yarbrough.

The family would like to thank the dedicated compassionate staff of Bishop Gadsden and Transitions Hospice Care.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in St. Michael's Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in the churchyard. The family will receive friends at a reception in the Kinloch Room of the Belser Parish Hall.
