Evalyn Quarterman Igoe

Mrs. Evalyn (Bev) Quarterman Igoe, widow of G. Humphry Igoe, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011.


Mrs. Igoe was born on May 7, 1917 in Montgomery, Alabama the daughter of Charles H. Quarterman, Sr. and Ellen Mauk Quarterman. The family moved to Charleston while she was a young child and she was educated in Charleston schools graduating from Memminger High School, and attending the College of Charleston and Rice Business School. She moved with her husband Humphry Igoe to Columbia, SC where she was employed by Merrill Lynch for many years. Mrs. Igoe was loved and cherished by all who knew her, her influence and memory always in the hearts of those close to her. 


She is survived by a sister Annie Laurie (Lollie) Quarterman, a step-grandson Robert Leslie Igoe, great granddaughters, Jessica Igoe Grooms, Jordan Igoe, Samantha Igoe, and Julia Igoe. Also surviving are a step-daughter, Patricia Igoe Kasell, a step-son, G. Humphry Igoe, Jr, step- granddaughter, Caroline Igoe Dugas, step-great great grandson, Christian Grooms, and niece, the Rev. Jean McGraw and her husband the Rev. Stanley E. McGraw. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Charles H. Quarterman, Jr. and Lee Sinclair Quarterman, a step-son James Igoe and a step-grandson Peter Edward Palmer Igoe.


Friends and relatives of Mrs. Igoe are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 11:00 am at Old Saint Andrews Parish Episcopal Church at 2604 Ashley River Road (SC Highway 61).  Interment will be private.  Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
