Entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, December 1, 2011, Eva Roberts Smoak, wife of the late Charles Benjamin Smoak. Residence, Johns Island, SC. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 3rd at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL between 4 and 6 pm. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services Sunday, December 4, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Johns Island at 3 pm. Burial will follow in the Churchyard.
Born on January 22, 1923, in Ravenel, South Carolina, Eva was a daughter of the late Hugh and Elizabeth Caddin Roberts. Eva was a graduate of St. John's High School. She was a retired Wrapper Stretcher with the American Tobacco Company and also retired from The Citadel Dry Cleaners. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Johns Island, WMU, Director of Shut In Ministry, Church Choir, Republican Women of Johns Island, and an avid traveler with Top of the Line Tours.
Surviving are two daughters, Julie Infinger of Charleston and Dorothy (Ronald) Meek of Johns Island; three sons, Rev. Charles B. Smoak, Jr. of Goose Creek, Andrew (Joyce) Smoak of Johns Island, J.D. (Rolinda) Smoak of Tampa, FL; two sisters, Martha Roys of Charleston and Emily Morgan of Raleigh, NC; and a brother, Joseph Roberts of Albuquerque, NM. In addition, she is survived by twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
