Eva Mae Haley Lott

December 15, 1934 — October 29, 2010

Eva Mae Haley Lott, wife of Alfred E. Lott died on October 29, 2010, after living with cancer for the last three years.  She was born on James Island on December 15, 1934, a daughter of the late Harry Anderson Haley, Sr., and Mary Ann Hodge Haley.  A graduate of Murray Vocational High School, she retired as bookkeeper for Anderson Insurance Associates in December, 1999.



 

The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred E. Lott are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter, Monday, November 1, 2010 in Bethany United Methodist Church of James Island at 10 am.  Interment, Carolina Memorial Park.  Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Sunday, between 4 and 6 pm. 



 


Miss Eva, as she was affectionately known, was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church of James Island before her illness.  And after her illness, she still attended when she felt well enough.  She was a member and past president of the Jennings Bible Class.  She was also a member and past president of Bethany United Methodist Women.  She was a former member of the Bethany Chancel Choir and taught Sunday school in the children's department for many years.  She was a member and past president of the Charleston Association of Insurance Women.  She was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.



 


Miss Eva is survived by her husband, Al of James Island, SC and her three awesome children:  Michael H. Lott, M.D. of New York, New York, Brian C. Lott of Summerville, SC, and Jane Lott Scutt and her husband, Donn of James Island, SC.  She also has two very special granddaughters; Haley Smith, a freshman at the University of South Carolina and Kendall Smith, a freshman at the Charleston County School of the Arts.



 


In addition, she is survived by her two sisters and best friends: Gladys H. Lott of James Island, and JoAnne H. Penington of Mt. Pleasant, as well as two brothers: Clarence M. Haley and his wife Ronda of Ravenel and Roy E. Haley of North Charleston.  There are many nieces and nephews as well as cousins.  She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and three sisters, as well as her beloved son, Harry.  The family would like to thank the staff at Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC for taking care of her these last three years; family members who assisted, as well as Rev. (Ret.) Gloria Robbins Davis for her friendship and spiritual counsel.
