Harriett Eugenia Jordan Suggs, 97, of Hanahan, South Carolina, wife of the late William James Suggs, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Her funeral service will be held Friday, April 17, 2026, at 1:00pm at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc. Northwoods Chapel, located at 2180 Greenridge Road. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens, located at 7113 Rivers Avenue. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Eugenia was born March 4, 1929, in Conway, South Carolina, daughter of the late Dan D. Jordan Sr. and the late Florrie Skipper Jordan. Eugenia was a beloved grandmother who delighted in her grandchildren, finding joy and purpose in watching them grow. Many will remember the warm, lovingly prepared meals she made, a true testament to her caring spirit. Her dedication to community was evident in her Wednesday tradition of cooking dinners at her church. She was best known for her decadent cakes and desserts, both at church and among her family and friends. These gatherings were more than just meals – they were a symbol of her commitment to service and desire to bring people together in fellowship and friendship. Eugenia’s creative spirit also shone brightly through her skills in crocheting and sewing. Her artistry and dedication to these crafts were widely recognized, including her earning a blue ribbon in the county fair for crocheting, a proud achievement that spoke highly of her talent.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Suggs Wilkins (Rick) of Goose Creek, SC; grandchildren: Elizabeth Walker Hall (Ron), Spring Walker Thomas (Steve), Ashley Dawn Walker Jeffcoat (Jeff), Sherrie Brooks, Terrie Brooks, Renee Wilkins Giddens (Jon), Allison Wilkins Sisk (Loyd); great-grandchild, River Giddens; siblings, Elizabeth Buchacher of Pompano Beach, FL and Susan Tilton (Robert) of Hanahan, SC; and many loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by children: Judith S. Brooks, Doris S. Walker, Wilma Juanita Suggs, and Wanda June Suggs; grandchild, Tim Elliott; and siblings: Bennett Jordan, Dan Jordan Jr., Johnny Altman, Delores Morrow, Loula Johnson and Roger Jordan.
Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew her. Eugenia Jordan Suggs will be remembered as a woman of kindness, skill and unwavering dedication to her loved ones and community. Her legacy endures in the memories she created, the traditions she upheld, and the love she shared so freely throughout her lifetime.
