Eugene William Mathes

Eugene William Mathes entered into eternal rest on August 31, 2010. He was a resident of Folly Beach, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11:00 am, at Folly Beach United Methodist Church.  The family will greet friends following the service.

Eugene (Gene) Mathes, son of Mr. Hubert Eugene Mathes and Viola Elizabeth Barrineau Mathes (both deceased), was born August 30, 1949. He attended Murray Vocational High School and served in the United States Army and is a Vietnam veteran. He was also a barber at Michelle's Salon and Spa at Folly Beach.

He is survived by his son, Shawn Price Mathes and his daughter Kelly T. Lavelle both of Goose Creek, SC. He has five grandchildren, Tyler, Mariah and Kaylee Mathes, Sean and Tucker Lavelle. He is also survived by his two sisters, Michelle M. Mazyck of Folly Beach, SC and Diane M. Wilson of Hollywood, SC; one niece, Kera Langston; one nephew: Brad Wilson.

Memorials may be made to MUSC Foundation, or Folly Beach United Methodist Church in memory of Gene Mathes.
