Eugene William Hesse, Jr.

Eugene William Hesse, Jr., 82, of Charleston, SC, widower of Barbara Riddle Hesse, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 27, 2025. His Graveside Service will be held Monday, February 3, 2025, at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends on that Monday, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

Mr. Hesse was born on June 30, 1942, in Charleston, SC. He is eldest son of the late Eugene William Hesse, Sr., and Lillie Thornal Hesse. He attended the original Bishop England High School in downtown Charleston. Mr. Hesse retired as an Engineer with the Charleston Fire Department, having served from 1959 to 1992. During his second career, he was a technician with Willard Pest Control. 

Mr. Hesse is survived by two sons, William Hesse (Marlyn) of Lexington, Michael Hesse of Charleston; a brother, Richard Hesse of Summerville; grandsons, Jose DeCecco (Maya) of San Francisco, CA, Eric Hesse (Lauren), and John Hesse, both of Lexington. He is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Alaina Hesse. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hesse was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Edward Hesse.
