Eugene Charles Connor

Eugene Charles Connor, husband of the late Eliza Grubbs Connor passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011 in a local nursing home.  The funeral service for Mr. Connor will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, June 23, 2011 at the graveside, Carolina Memorial Park.  ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.  The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Connor was born April 10, 1927 in Elizabeth, NJ, son of the late George Henry Connor and Theresa Wetzel Connor.  He retired after 35 years from the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a Machinist and instructor and was a US Army Veteran of World War II.  He was a member of Pittman Street Baptist Church. 

 Surviving are his daughter, Deloris Gibson and her husband, Albert of Mt. Pleasant, SC and one son, Patrick Connor  of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren, Crystal Jewel, of Mt. Pleasant, SC,  Catherine Fuller  of  Mt. Pleasant, SC and Clayton Gibson of North Charleston, SC; and four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Melvin Grubbs and his wife, Louise of Barnwell, SC.  Mr. Connor was preceded in death by his brothers, Wesley Linar Connor and George Nicholas Connor.
