Etta Tillman Gomez

Etta Tillman Gomez, 84, of North Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Robert Wilson Gomez, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2013. Her Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 28, 2013, in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Etta was born February 3, 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina, the daughter of the late John Roy Tillman and Mallie Barrineau Tillman. She was a graduate of Memminger High School and was a member of Charleston Baptist Church, where she was very involved with her Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Island Quilters Association. Etta was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Wilson Gomez of North Charleston, SC; two daughters, Joan G. Willard (WJ) of Charleston, SC and Lynn Gomez Bailes of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert G. "Butch" Gomez; brothers, Trenton T. Tillman, John Tillman; and sisters, Bernice Stutts, and Geneva Davey.
