Ethel Pye Stokes, 81, of Ravenel, South Carolina, wife of the late Curtis Eugene Stokes, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Sauldam Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ethel was born April 10, 1944, in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Jake Pye, Sr. and Caroline Postell Pye.
Ethel was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life revolved around her family. She showed her love through cooking for those she cherished, always making sure everyone was fed and cared for. In her quiet moments, she found joy in crafts, especially working with flowers and quilting, creating pieces filled with care and intention. Her warmth, strength, and gentle spirit touched all who knew her, leaving a lasting impact that will be carried on through generations.
She is survived by her sister, Mandy Wright; brothers, Clarence Pye and Lucky Pye; daughters, Marie Davis, Mary Stokes, and Caroline Broxson; grandchildren, Cheyanne Broxson, Elizabeth Broxson-Smith, Kendall Hammock, Krystal Lawson (Travis Lawson), Kenneth McCoy, Curtis Wolfe, Dennis Davis, and Santana Stokes; great-grandchildren, Kyler Bryant, Chase Lawson, Macy Lawson, Harrison Hammock, Kinsleigh Hammock, Codi Stokes and Axl Benton; and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Howard; brothers, Jake Pye and Sunny Pye; and son-in-law, Dennis Davis.
