Entered into eternal life on the morning of October 20, 2011, Ethel Usher Hollingsworth Johnson, widow of Corliss Johnson. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 3:00 pm. Interment, Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call at J. Mrs. Johnson was born July 27, 1912 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of Edward M. Usher and Isabelle Davis Usher. She was a graduate of Memminger High School. She retired as a secretary with the Charleston Naval Shipyard and from Charlestowne Methodist Church. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, an avid swimmer, played tennis, basketball (loved University of North Carolina basketball) and was a bowler. She was elected most athletic in her class. Also, was first runner up in the Miss Navy Yard contest, which was a part of the Azalea Festival.
She is survived by a daughter: Angela Hollingsworth McLester of Charleston, SC; one granddaughter: Susan Eve McLester of Mt. Pleasant, SC; five cousins: Ann Robertson, Trudy Coffey, Ruth Baker, Harry Scarborough and Bobbi Harrell and other cousins.
A reception will be held after the burial at her daughter's home at 10 Lockwood Drive, Charleston.
