Ethel Mae Chaplin

Ethel Mae Chaplin, 98, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 24, 2025. Her Graveside Service will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025 in the Magnolia Cemetery, 70 Cunnington Avenue at 2:30 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Ethel was born November 26, 1926 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Wade Dopson and Eulalie Sires Dopson. Ethel was a devout member of Harborview Presbyterian Church. She worked with the American Red Cross and Volunteered with USO.

She is survived by her son, B. Rhett Chaplin, III (Laura); daughter, Jayne C. McDaniel (Jim); grandchildren, Robert McDaniel, Adam McDaniel, Matthew McDaniel, Elizabeth Burkhardt, and Jennifer Chaplin Granger; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Barnwell Chaplin.
