Estil Lee Blanton, 86, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home late Sunday evening, October 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 28, 1939, in Harlan, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William Raymond and Fannie Taylor Blanton.
A proud Vietnam Veteran, Estil honorably served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring at the rank of Master Chief as a Hospital Corpsman. His dedication, leadership, and compassion for others were hallmarks of his distinguished military career.
A man of deep faith, Estil was a devoted member of Pinecrest Baptist Church for nearly 40 years. His love for the Lord and his church community remained steadfast throughout his life. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, kindness, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Known affectionately to many as “Pete,” he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He is predeceased by his daughter, Tracey Lynn Johnson; grandson, Justin Todd Johnson; five brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Patricia Frances Blanton of Charleston, South Carolina; son, Jarrell Scott (Nancy) Blanton of Charleston, South Carolina; daughter, Lisa Rene (Randy) Cable of Huger, South Carolina; grandchildren, Joshua (Ainsley) Johnson, Kyle (Paige) Blanton, Cameron (Megan) Sabin, Chandler(Anna) Sabin; great grandchildren, Katlyn, Lily, and Maddox. Brother, James “Pup” Blanton (Peggy) of Georgetown, Kentucky; and sisters, Nell Mills of Dalton, Georgia, Mary Ann Walters of Baxter, Kentucky, and Wilie Mae Asher (Bud) of Harlan, Kentucky. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Pete was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following both the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Clemson Tigers.
The family will receive friends in the sanctuary at Pinecrest Baptist Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the main sanctuary with Dr. Ben Phillips officiating. Interment will be private.
