Esther Kinney Mayberry

February 13, 1927 — July 15, 2013

Esther Tyler Kinney Mayberry, devoted mother, grandmother and wiife of Furman David Mayberry, passed from this earth . Her funeral services will be held graveside, Sunday, July 21, 2013 in Carolina Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.

Esther was born in Charleston, SC, the daughter of Lonnie William Tyler and Ruby Virginia Magwood Tyler February 13, 1927. She spent many years as church organist at Windsor Baptist Church and continued to serve in that capacity when the church was reorganized as the Hillcrest Baptist Church. Her love of music was passed along to her daughter, Claudia.Esther also served as school secretary at First Baptist Church School until her retirement. She touched many young lives as she held court in the school office and in the hallways. Once you had made it past her desk in the school office, going to the Principal's office was anticlimactic.

She is survived by her son, Ronald W. Kinney and his wife Claire of West Columbia, SC; step-son, Furman A. Mayberry and his wife Diann of Goose Creek, SC; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Esther is predeceased by her brother, Claude Tyler and her first husband, Gurtis Alvin (Bud) Kinney and her daughter, Claudia Kinney Bryant.
