Ervene Lewis Hiers (96) was born December 18, 1926, to Irvin M. Lewis and Ramona Livey Lewis in Walnut, IL.
She attended Knox College in Galesburg, IL and Grand Hospital in Chicago, IL.
Ervene came to Charleston in 1951 as a Medical Record Librarian at Roper Hospital. In 1953 she married Jack Hiers at The Second Presbyterian Church and has been a member ever since.
She was a member of LaSertoma, DAR, former member of the Country Club of Charleston and an avid golfer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, sister and son, Jon.
Ervene is survived by two daughters; Melinda Accardo (Rocky), of Charleston, Jennifer Crosby (Peter) of The Villages, FL, five grandchildren, Jonathan Hiers, Allyson Armstrong (Adam), Katherine Accardo, Tripp Accardo, Jeremy Crosby, five nieces and three nephews.
The family would like to thank Jackie Mitchell, Cora Johnson, Moesha Singleton, Clara Heslin, Evone Simmons and Sharon Jones for their loving care over the past two years.
The family will receive visitors at Stuhrs Downtown, 232 Calhoun Street, Tuesday, May 23, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be at The Second Presbyterian Church, 342 Meeting Street, Wednesday, May 24, at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Downtown Chapel.
