Ernestine Catherine Lundgren

Ernestine Catherine Lundgren, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late Sten Erik Lundgren, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 3, 2023. 

Ernestine was born August 18^th, 1937 in Driehuis, Netherlands, daughter of the late Gerard Ernest Vander Kaay and the late Teuntje Vander Meyden, and sister of the late Johanna de Boer. Ernestine worked in various fields including the airline and medical industry.

Ernestine is survived by her daughter, Karina Desiree Key and husband Larry; her sons, Kevin Erik Lundgren and wife Monica and Todd Ernest Lundgren and wife Anne; her grandchildren Charles, Ella, Jonathan, Benjamin, Liam and Aidan; as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws throughout Canada and Sweden.

Friends and family will remember Ernestine as someone with several passions in her life. She loved creative hobbies such as knitting, crocheting, cross stitching and would often give her work as gifts. She loved to spend her time reading, writing, or doing crossword puzzles. She also had a great love for cooking. In fact, she wrote her own cookbook which includes many of her favorite recipes. She had a great love for animals, especially cats and dogs. She was a loving mother, wife and friend that enjoyed spending time with her family at home or traveling.

Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 12^th, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 am. There will also be a visitation for friends and family on Tuesday, April 11^th, 2023 beginning at 5 PM at 1987 Ashley River Rd.

Memorial donations may be made in Ernestine’s honor to Lakeside Animal Rescue.
