Ernest "E.T" Tillman Tumbleston, 83, of Yonges Island, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, January 5, 2018. His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 p.m.
E.T. was born December 15, 1934 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Joe S. Tumbleston and Nettie Jennings Tumbleston. He served in the U.S. Army, after his tour of duty, he worked at Pre-Stress Concrete Company for almost 30 years, working his way up to plant superintendent. He then worked for MUSC in maintenance, until his retirement. E.T. was a devoted husband, father, and friend. A generous man with a big heart, he was graced with a light hearted sense of humor, sweet, and hard working. He loved hunting, shrimping, building and fixing things. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his three children, Ernest "Todd" Tumbleston and wife Sandra of Conconully, WA; Angela L. Faison and husband Robert "Rob" of Mt. Olive, NC; and Susan A Lopez of Summerville, SC; two brothers, Edgar Tumbleston of Meggett, SC, Donald Tumbleston of Givhans, SC; three grandchildren, April Slye, Justin Tumbleston, Kassandra Greene and three great-grandsons; He also leaves behind his life partner of 38 years, Theresa Eldridge, and her children, Lonnie Prosser, Sheryl Tuttle, Libby Karch, Jeff Eldridge, Matt Eldridge, and their children, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Jr., and Marion Tumbleston and a sister Ruth "Louise" Young.
