Eric Richard Nye, 81, of Houston, Texas, husband of the late Marie Josephine Nye (Battle), entered into eternal rest Tuesday, February 20, 2024. His Charleston Funeral Service will be held Sunday, February 25, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Funeral and burial services will be held in Texas at Brookside Memorial Park at a later date.

Eric was born August 1, 1942, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son of the late Edward Fountain Nye and Rose Mary Law. Eric was an English teacher for more than 20 years. He was also an active member of the Lions Club. His favorite music was opera and classical. He loved Apple devices and playing pickleball, and greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his wife of 48 years Marie, his son Rick, and his grandchildren, Eric H. and Rachel. Eric was highly intelligent and educated, and blessed with a warm, fun-loving personality which endeared him to colleagues, friends, and neighbors.

Eric is survived by his grandson Eric Hamilton Nye (Molly Conway) of Holly Hill, SC; granddaughter Rachel Marie Nye of Charleston, SC; daughter-in-law, Martha Bridgman Nye of Charleston, SC; many nieces and nephews, and his special friend and helper Tori Moxley.

In addition to his wife and parents, Eric was preceded in death by his son Richard Lee Nye and his older brother, Mark Nye.

Memorials may be made to the Houston Spring Branch Lions Club.
