ENC Thomas John Kwiatkowski (USN, Ret.), 81, of Huger, South Carolina, husband of Marguerite Crowson Kwiatkowski died Wednesday, March 26, 2019. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road. The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Saturday from 12:00 pm until time of the service.
Thomas was born September 17, 1937 in Princeton, Wisconsin, son of the late Stanish Kwiatkowski and the late Martha Dahlke Kwiatkowski. He served in the United States Navy as Chief Engineman and retired Diesel Mechanic with General Diesel. Tom was currently a member of East Cooper Baptist Church. He was formerly a member of Unity Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Sunday School Teacher and choir member. He was a life member of the Fleet Reserve Association and Charleston Branch #50 and a member of the Retired Enlisted Association. He was also a life member of the National Rifle Association, life member of the Antique Auto Club, member of the Cushman Motor Scooter Club, member of the Kaiser-Frazer Owners Club, charter member of the AMC Rambler Club and club store chairman. Tom has a large collection of Rambler automobiles and parts, Cushman Motor Scooters and Allis Chalmers Tractors. He was a former stock car racing driver and dirt bike Enduro rider. While in the United States Navy he served on several ships at the Charleston Naval Base.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite "Tutta" Kwiatkowski of Huger, SC; daughter, Deborah K. Cowdery (Andrew) of Raymore, MO; son, Thomas J. Kwiatkowski, Jr.; step-son, Hugh "Buddy" C. Hargette, Jr. (Danielle) of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Jason Hargette, Lindsay Hargette Smith and Christopher Cowdery; great grandchildren, Jacob, Maddi, Brooklynn and Jordan Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Francis Kwiatkowski and his 3rd wife, Edna Kwiatkowski.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to East Cooper Baptist Church, 361 Egypt Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
