Emmett St. Clair Hughes, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Mabel Infinger Hughes entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 25, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 29, 2014 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's 10:00 am until the time of service.

Emmett was born July 20, 1926 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Sidney Hughes and Mary Weeks Hughes. He was a Supervisor for the American Tobacco Company. Emmett was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife; two sons: Douglas Etheridge (Shelly) of Ash, NC and Mark E. Hughes of Charleston, SC; daughter-in- law, Gail Hughes of Ohio; brother, Melvin Hughes (Jackie) of James Island, SC; 11 grandchildren and a special nephew, Vince Hicks. Emmett was preceded in death by his son, Sydney St. Clair Hughes and his daughter, Annette Anderson.
