Emmet “Stirling” Morrison, age 48, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026. Stirling will be remembered as a fiercely loving and dedicated husband and father. Stemming from his New Orleans roots, Stirling’s love language was cooking for family and friends. Taking care of others, often with a homemade gumbo, such as the one he made this past Thanksgiving in Seville, was what brought him joy. He was detail-oriented and an inherent caretaker, noticing meticulous minutiae to make his guests feel comfortable, and attentive to others’ needs, whether they were his closest friends or people he met in his various walks of life. Through his work in his family real estate company, he cultivated and established long-lasting relationships with ease; he was an entrepreneur at heart. We would be remiss not to mention that he was an impeccable dresser and had a love for wonderfully tailored clothing.
Stirling’s life changed forever when he and his wife of 23 years, Emily, welcomed three beautiful triplets into this world. He poured his energy into raising them and instilling a love for exploration and curiosity. As a family of five, they packed in more travel in the triplet’s almost 14 years than most people do in a lifetime. Most recently, he and his family spent the fall of 2025 in Seville, Spain where he cherished the simpler, slower pace of life, embracing the culture with wonder and joy. Being with his family was the most important thing in the world to him. He had a zest for life and was a “doer,” whether it was an impromptu crawfish boil, coaching his kids’ softball team, mountain biking with Emily, surfing, or sharing with his kids his passion for outdoor activities. He was so proud of his children and valued their education of life above all else. He also cherished his many lifelong friends from New Orleans as well as new friends and families who deeply impacted his life.
Stirling had an artistic eye and loved finding beauty in nature, architecture, and design. He and Emily cultivated a beautiful home in New Orleans, picking out curated art work from their travels and were so excited to be building a family home on Sullivan’s Island. He was looking forward to the many opportunities that lay ahead; most recently he had set his sights on learning to fly a plane and traveling with his family to Japan. He also cherished his dog, Biscuit, who he loved taking on long walks on the Island.
He is survived by Emily and their three children, Logan, Stirling, and Rhett Morrison, as well as his mother and father, Pat and JJ Morrison; brother and sister-in-law, Kent and Jennifer Morrison, and their children Caroline and Emmet; brother and sister-in-law,
Parker and Laura Morrison and their children Katherine and Celeste; as well as his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Libby and Rhett Myers; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Skip White and their children Ashby, Chilton, and Owen. A small family memorial will be held with a walk on the beach, which he loved so much, on Saturday, February 7th followed by a celebration of life for all family and friends at 3:45 PM at the family home on Sullivan’s Island. A ceremony in New Orleans will be held on Friday, March 13th at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Avenue, with visitation from 10 AM to 11 AM and service beginning at 11 AM. A celebration of life (casual attire) will follow at the New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club, 5353 Laurel Street (corner of Laurel Street and Jefferson Avenue) from 4PM – 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, Stirling loved trees and wanted to plant oak trees on Sullivan’s Island. To contribute to his memory and for more information, please contact Ellie Gray at elliereesegray@gmail.com.
