Emma Jane Herndon Moniz, 87, of North Charleston, South Carolina, wife of John Bernard Moniz entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 18, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 29, 2016 in Cherokee Place United Methodist Church, 2105 Cosgrove Avenue at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road.
Jane was born January 12,1929 in Smoaks, South Carolina, daughter of the late Lonnie B. Herndon and the late Chessie Myers Herndon. She enjoyed sewing, baking and most of all dancing cheek to cheek with her sweet partner of nearly 69 years. John and Jane enjoyed membership at the Charleston Elks Lodge #242. She was also a member of Cherokee Place United Methodist Church for over 65 years.
In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by three daughters, Judith Moniz-Roen (Roger), Amelia Moniz and Cheryl Moniz (Douglas Cunningham); daughter in law, Janice Thompson Moniz; eight grandchildren: SC Sen. Sean Bennett, Deputy Sheriff Brian Moniz, Lauren Moniz, and Deputy Sheriff Philip Moniz, Heather and Michaela Cunningham, and Jenna and Shannon McSwain; eight great-grandchildren, Haile and Hayden Bennett, William Meeks, Peyton and Ella Rae Moniz, Wade and Wesley Hennet, and Georgia Moniz; one brother, William Herndon; one sister, Julie Westberry; and a large extended loving family.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Moniz and too many siblings to count.
