Emma Frances Hulsey

Emma Frances McCathern Hulsey, 95, of James Island, SC, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 at her residence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the Cherokee Place United Methodist Church, 2105 Cosgrove Avenue at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by J Henry Stuhr, Inc., North Area Chapel.

Mrs. Hulsey was born August 2, 1920 in Lee County, SC, She was the daughter of Leva and Robert McCathern.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Walt Jones of Dunn, NC and daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Craig Whitfield of James Island; grandson, Damon (Kristy) Whitfield of Harbor Springs, MI; granddaughter, Hailey (Bryan) Walker of Lusby, MD; great-grandchildren: Matthew Whitfield, Evan Whitfield, Camden Whitfield and Elise Whitfield of Harbor Springs, MI. Mrs. Hulsey was anxiously anticipating the birth of her fourth great-grandson (Hailey) in February. She is also survived by her sister, Nina Lee Moore of Bishopville, SC and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hulsey was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She worked in the retail business for over 40 years and retired from Belk Department Store.

The family wishes to express their gratitude and love to all of Mrs. Hulsey's physicians and their staff, Roper St. Francis Home Health and Heartland Hospice. A very special thank you to her guardian angels through the years, Woodie and Henrietta Killingsworth, Kendra Lott and Shirley Rush.
