Emma Jean Hagan Curry, 72, of Hanahan, SC, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012. She was born on February 7, 1940 in Norfolk, Virginia. Daughter of the late Leonard and Lola Mae Hagan, she is survived by her loving husband, Horace Edward Curry, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Glen Curry; son-in-law, Louis Koester and precious grandson, Davidson Curry Roof.
Also surviving are her brother, Floyd Hagan (Naomi) of Perry, Georgia and her sister, Linda Hagan Robuck (Frank) of Raleigh, North Carolina; three daughters Jennene Curry Koester, Lorraine Curry Roof (David), Cynthia Curry Crosby (Doug) and daughter-in-law, Lena Harris Curry; eight grandchildren, Kelly Curry, Melinda Curry, Jennie Curry, Austin Koester, Meredith Koester, Christiansen Roof, Anna Grace Crosby and Micah Crosby; three great-grandchildren, Emery DeJesus, Braeden Garrett and Kade Garrett; also her mother-in-law, Lilliette Curry.
Emma Jean graduated from James Island High School. She was a passionate advocate for the Ronald McDonald House where she volunteered for many years before joining the staff as the Volunteer Coordinator. Emma Jean was a grace-filled soul devoted to her family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her family and extensive circle of friends will cherish their precious memories of this loving lady who touched so many lives.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Cathedral of Praise, 3790 Ashley Phosphate Road, North Charleston, South Carolina. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. also at Cathedral of Praise. Family and friends are invited, as well, to the visitation and services to be held at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church, 2500 Highway North 41, Fort Valley, GA 31030 (6 miles north of Perry, GA). Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 30, 6:00-8:00 p.m. and service on Monday, December 31 at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest immediately following the service.
