Emma D. Chambers, 96, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Leo J. Chambers, Sr. entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 22, 2018. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018 in the International Church of God, 1560 Ashley River Road at 1:00 p.m. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Emma was born December 15, 1921 in Sumter, South Carolina, daughter of the late Robert Brooks Dickson and Annie Belle White Dickson. She specialized in photo composition, having retired from the Post and Courier after 24 years. Emma was a longtime member of the International Church of God, formerly known as the West Ashley Church of God, where she worked part time.
She is survived by four children: Mary Avery of Charleston, SC, Robert C. Chambers, Sr. of Charleston, SC, Nancy Burnham of Cottageville, SC and Tracy L. Chambers of Hanahan, SC; two grandchildren: Cindy Koster of Cottageville, SC and Robert C. Chambers, Jr. of Charleston, SC; and sister-in-law, Norma Dickson of Atlanta, GA; five great-grandchildren: Nicholas Koster (Nicole), Christopher Crosby (Kortney), Cara Chambers, Tristen Chambers and Zachary Crowley; and five great great-grandchildren: Hayven Koster, Walker Koster, Dalton Crosby, Waylon Crosby and Kacen Crosby. Emma was preceded in death by her son, Leo Jack Chambers, Jr. and brother, Joseph F. Dickson.
