Entered into eternal rest of the morning of February 2, 2011 Emma D'Angelo Burckhalter, wife of Ronald F. Burckhalter. Residence, Charleston, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald F. Burckhalter are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter Sunday, February 6, 2011 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL at 2:30 pm. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
Mrs. Burckhalter was born April 18, 1931 in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of the late Joseph D'Angelo and the late Mary Lena Treadway D'Angelo. Emma was a Registered Nurse and received her nursing degree from Mather School of Nursing. She was a retired Head Nurse for the MUSC Eye Institute, an Artist and member of Moncks Corner and Goose Creek Artist Guild, a former member of First Baptist Church of Charleston and member of Providence Baptist Church where she was a member of the Choirs.
She is survived by her husband Ronald of Charleston; two sons, Jonathan (Cathy) Burckhalter of Florence, SC, Mark (Michelle) Burckhalter of Charleston; two grandsons, Andrew and Daniel Burckhalter both of Florence; four sisters, Anna Winborne of Slidell, LA, Shirley (Gerald) Blackwell of Baton Rouge, LA, Velma (Steve) Hammons of Ruston, LA, and Claire Black of Houston, TX; a brother, Joseph (Rosemary) D'Angelo of Fairhope, AL; brothers-in-law, William Burckhalter, George (Carol) Burckhalter, Kenny (Ann) Burckhalter, Leon (Angela) Burckhalter all of South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Mary Burton of South Carolina.
