Entered into eternal rest on the morning of March 3, 2011, Emma Guy Megginson Felder Anderson. Residence, Johns Island, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 3:00 pm in St. John's United Methodist Church, Johns Island. Interment, Magnolia Cemetery. Mrs. Anderson was born July 24, 1914, in Lynchburg, Virginia, the daughter of William James Megginson and Annie McLaughlin Megginson. She attended James Simmons Elementary and Memminger High School and graduated from The College of Charleston with a B.S. Degree in 1936. She taught for many years in the Charleston County Schools.
Mrs. Anderson was first married to Howard Arthur Felder who was also a College of Charleston graduate and Station Manager for Eastern Air Lines. They resided on Edgewater Park and River Road, Johns Island. Mr. Felder passed away in September of 1976.
She is survived by four sons, H.A. Felder, Jr. William Hall Felder (Patricia), James Norwood Felder (Ann) and Alton Hayne Felder; one step-son: W. Swinton Anderson, Jr.; nine grandchildren: Howard Arthur (Butch) Richard (Kathy), James B. Richard (Jenni), Deanna Richard Sorensen (Ben), William H. Felder, Jr., Jennifer Felder Bruni(Frank), Katherine Felder Huff (Chris), James Norwood Felder, Jr.(Nachelle), Zachary Hayne Felder and Justin Vaughn Felder; six step grandchildren: Alicia Seabrook Thompson, T. Bissell Anderson, Jr., James Anderson, Edward Cole Anderson, William S. Anderson and John Frederick Anderson;eleven great grandchildren: Joseph Richard, James B. Richard, Jr., Emma Irene Richard, Caden Byron Richard, Sarah Sorensen, Laura Sorensen, Ben Fredrick Sorensen, Jack William Bruni, Emma Kathryn Bruni, Jeremy Huff and Aiden Huff. She is also survived by a nephew Dr. William J. Megginson, III and two nieces Jaclyn Easterling and Barbara Wright. She is predeceased by one daughter, Ellen Felder Arcand.
Mrs. Felder married William S. Anderson of Johns Island in 1984. Mr. Anderson owned Anderson Electric Company of Charleston. He died in 1994.
Mrs. Anderson was a member and organist of St. John's United Methodist Church of John's Island for many years. She will be missed greatly by her church family. She was also a Magnolia Garden Club member on Johns Island and treasured her friendships there. She was active in the College of Charleston Alumni Association and enjoyed the Alumni Association events. Mrs. Anderson was also an author of a book of phonics called "Beginning Phonics for Parents". Mrs. Anderson and Mr. Calvin Shuler also administered a scholarship program for the Johns Island Civic Club.
