Elvenia Infinger Bishop, 99, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of John Vivian Bishop entered into eternal rest Thursday, November 10, 2016. Her funeral service will be held Monday, November 14, 2016 in Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum . The family will receive friends Sunday in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Elvenia was born June 1, 1917 in Harleyville, SC, daughter of the late Marvin Infinger and Lydia Canady Infinger. She graduated from Harleyville High School and Stokes Business College. Elvenia was retired from Johnson and Johnson Insurance Managers. She was an active member of Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church where she served in many official capacities. Elvenia was a member of The Daughters of America, The Eastern Star and The Seniors Joy Group and the Kings Daughters and Sons.
She is survived by one son, James Robert Bishop (Kathryn) of Harleyville, SC; daughter-in-law, Rosalinde Altmann Jones Bishop of Summerville, SC; four grandchildren: Denise Bishop Canaday (Allen) of Moncks Corner, SC, John Marvin Bishop, Jr. (Reada) of Oklahoma City, OK, Neill Bishop (Betts) and George Bishop, both of Charleston, SC; two great-grandchildren: Brennan Cannaday Sweatman of Moncks Corner, SC and Barron Bishop of Charleston, SC; three great-great-grandchildren: Bentley and Destiny Canaday, Sage Sweatman; and two brothers: Oliver Infinger (Jackie) and Walter Wendell Infinger (Cele) both of Charleston, SC.
Elvenia was predeceased by her son, John Marvin Bishop; two sisters: Alma Infinger Wimberly and Ethel Infinger Willis Bunch; and brother, Leslie Infinger.
