Elsie Rae Tant, 98, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, wife of the late David Judson Tant, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The family will receive friends during the visitation at 11 AM on Friday, July 17, 2026, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Her Funeral Service will follow at 12 PM, at the same location. Burial will then follow at Riverview Memorial Park.

Elsie was born April 24, 1928 in Richmond, Virginia, daughter of the late Benjamin H. Redford and Gertrude Mae Knight Redford. Elsie was previously an active member of Dorchester-Waylyn Baptist Church and then Wando Woods Baptist Church. She was a Cosmetologist earlier in her life and then worked as a Kindergarten Teacher at Dorchester-Waylon Baptist Church, before retiring as one at Goodwin Elementary School.

She is survived by her son, David Ray Tant, of North Charleston; daughter, Linda Marie Tant, of Goose Creek; granddaughter, Terri Perrault de Tant, of Ennis, MT; great-granddaughter, Sydney N. Songer, of Ennis, MT; sister, Betty Garrett, of Angier, NC; very special niece, Barbara Doan, of North Charleston; and many other nieces and nephews. She also had an extended family at one time with additional grandchildren that she loved.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Redford and Herbert Redford, of Charleston; and three sisters, Glenice "Sis" Peecksen and Doris Shriver, of Charleston and Lois Parrott, of Florence.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, as this was very close to her heart.
