Elsie Marie Avinger Martin

Elsie Marie Avinger Martin, 88, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Claude Hendricks Martin, Jr. died Wednesday, November 8, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 in Laurens City Cemetery at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Sunday from 1:00 until time of the service.

Elsie was born April 25, 1929 on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, daughter of the late Herman M. Avinger and the late Ruby Sweat Avinger. She graduated from Moultrie High School and attended Rice Business College. Elsie worked doing clerical duties in the publishing field. She was a member of The Church of the Epiphany, Summerville, SC and attended East Cooper Episcopal Church, Mt. Pleasant.

She is survived by sister, Celeste Avinger Damewood of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three sister-in-laws, Laura Hamby of Laurens, SC, Pat Martin of Edisto Beach, SC and June Lancaster of Laurens, SC and many nieces and nephews and their families.

The family would like to thank the staff at Franke at Seaside and Keil Health Care Center for their wonderful care and support for Elsie while she was there.
