Elmore Lawrence Marlow, Jr.

Elmore Lawrence Marlow, Jr., 79, of Charleston, SC, husband of Cheryl Cook Marlow, died Sunday, January 12, 2025. 

Born June 16, 1945 to the late Elmore Lawrence Marlow, Sr. and Elizabeth Dixon Marlow, he attended Porter Military Academy and graduated from Rivers High School. Elmore attended Newberry College and The University of South Carolina. He began work with Atlantic Coastline Railroad and retired as Station Manager in Charleston, SC with Amtrak. 

Elmore served our country in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a past officer in the West Ashley Gamecock Club, the West Ashley Jaycees, a former member of the Arion Society and the German Friendly Society. Elmore was a member of the Washington Light Infantry and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He also served on Council at St. Johannes Lutheran Church. 

Elmore is survived by his wife, Cheryl; one son, Rocky Marlow (Stacy) of James Island, SC; four grandchildren; and his sister, Georgeanna Kicklighter of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He was predeceased by his daughter, Robin Marlow Proudfoot. 

His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at St. Johannes Lutheran Church, 48 Hasell Street, at 1:00 pm. Interment will be private at a later date in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
